Soft calender (smooth work)
Market: Paper Industry
A paper manufacturer in the North Holland region commissioned Tebulo to provide project management and engineering for modifying their paper production line. This modification involves replacing the existing smoothing system with a new soft calender. This allows for the production of higher-quality paper.

Project description: 80-ton smoothing machine
To upgrade the current production line, several structural modifications were required to accommodate all the components of the new soft calender. Two spaces were created for this purpose, with a total area of 130 m². The unusual thing is that the floor for this was not yet in place. The existing mezzanine floor in the production hall was extended 24 meters to create a larger mezzanine. The existing piping was rerouted for this purpose. A thermal oil boiler, power distribution boards, control cabinets, and a transformer were then installed in the new spaces. The existing foundations of the production line also had to be reinforced to accommodate the 80-ton soft calender.
To power the new production line, a 6kV high-voltage power supply had to be engineered. This is being downgraded to 500V using a transformer, allowing it to be distributed via the installed power distribution panels. The existing control system has been modified to match the control systems of the new soft calender.
