Project description

At the Tata Steel site in IJmuiden, energy is generated from two power plants. These plants produce steam at both high and low pressures, which is distributed by the Energy Distribution Station. Previously, control was performed locally using conventional control panels. In the new setup, monitoring and operation are housed in a single, centrally located building, with control provided by screens.

Tebulo performed the detailed engineering and FMEA (Failure Mode & Effect Analysis) for the controls and network connections, and also contributed to the software component that forms the interface between the PLCs and the SCADA system. Due to the installations' significant dependence on the energy supply, an uninterrupted energy supply had to be guaranteed during and after the takeover, and supply constraints had to be minimized.

Flowcharts were used to visualize the takeover criteria and stop-and-go conditions, and everything was summarized in a takeover manual for each installation component. Assembly activities were supervised before and during the takeover, and Tebulo was part of the testing and commissioning team during the takeover.
