Project description

VTTI is an organization specializing in the storage and transhipment of oil products. VTTI owns eleven oil storage terminals worldwide with a combined capacity of over 6 million m³. The terminals are located worldwide. EuroTank Amsterdam (ETA) is one of these terminals. VRU pipelines have been installed at the EuroTank site near Riebeeckhavenweg and Benzolweg.

Tebulo Engineering was commissioned to expand the existing VRU pipeline. This pipeline is used to pump an absorbent for volatile vapors released during fuel transfer. Therefore, the various Ex zones had to be taken into account when designing the transfer system. A combination of intrinsically safe control circuits was chosen for this design. The pump unit consists of a 37 kW motor and associated lubrication units. A frequency converter controls the motor, for which a complete frequency converter cabinet was designed. Instruments have been installed at various locations in the pipeline to monitor and control the VRU transport. The calculations were performed using the Finite Element Method (FEM). The Finite Element Method is a calculation method that can be used to calculate, among other things, the strength properties of a complex structure. Regarding the installation's infrastructure, we designed a temporary and future route.
